Single-Use Plastic
Starting with the topic of plastic and the problem of its waste affecting the environment, our research team narrowed the project on consumer’s motivations around the consumption of single-use plastic.
How might we better understand consumer motivation around the consumption of single-use plastic to identify interventions at the intersection of consumer and industry in hopes of reducing the impact of plastic waste in Canada?
We developed a research plan with a variety of innovative research methods that covered all the design phases, from Discover to Implement.
For our academic requirement of testing new research approaches, we executed the following two methods:
- User-Driven Experience Mapping Workshop: A participatory scenario-based workshop, customized specifically for this project, after studying several established experience-based and journey mapping examples.
- ERAF Systems Map: A method for creating a high-level systems view of the single-use plastics landscape. ERAF stands for Entities, Relations, Attributes, and Flows.
